Phil, by reading some of the posts you made (below in red), seems you, or a friend

have more then passing interest in this deal.
Seems to me that someone just stepped up and gave a fair offer to ensure he could get a car in a long-distance deal. A guy has to do what a guy has to do to get what he wants.......
The days of "I'll be over at 5pm to give you the money for the car, consider it sold" went out the window once these cars became such a treasure. Now, a person will be getting twice what his top dollar was on the car. You can't argue with the ethics of either the seller or buyer in this case IMO
I think everyone is assuming way too much. The initial contact with this guy yielded the "higher than asking" offer which was accepted. The way I understand it is that everything else happened after that. Not sure why the guy agreed to have someone else come by or whatever, but the first contact at 6am closed the deal. Maybe he was not convinced initially that the offer was legit-- but I am positive that right now he is assured it is.
Look, I am not trying to start fights or stir the pot but things are getting a bit offensive in my opinion. All over a car that was completely fair game to anyone.
I am telling you that the offer to give more than asking price was made at 6 am this morning. I don't know what the seller is thinking or doing, but 6 am was when the larger offer was made and accepted. Everything after that, in my opinion, is the seller following the smell of money.

I would absolutely agree with this! I wonder. But, my opinion is that cash in hand talks, BS walks. Bottom line is, the conversations that happened this am were without each other's knowledge and weren't willfully harming anyone. Now, anyone who goes after the car outside of these initial two or three people is in a different catagory altogether IMHO.
