Jeff- Pretty tough for an average Joe to turn down more than he was asking especially that kind of dough!
Not to mention, how many people would have shown up only to try and get him down off of his initial asking price. It ain't sold, 'til it's sold. Not to mention, what is the car WORTH? There have been many discussions regarding ethics on various topics on this board-- the least of which is grossly underpaying a seller only to turn HUGE profits in the end. Seems to me that someone just stepped up and gave a fair offer to ensure he could get a car in a long-distance deal. A guy has to do what a guy has to do to get what he wants.......
The days of "I'll be over at 5pm to give you the money for the car, consider it sold" went out the window once these cars became such a treasure. Now, a person will be getting twice what his top dollar was on the car. You can't argue with the ethics of either the seller or buyer in this case IMO.
