Re: 1969 Hockey Stripe
Does anyone own or know of an original paint 69 Camaro with the extended hockeysticks? I've only ever seen them in factory photos, ads, etc. I'd like to see if the fender extention portion was painted before or after it was bolted to the fender. You'd think if it was stenciled and painted after it was already bolted to the fender bottom there would likely be a poor edge where the stencil would have to pass over the fender to extention gap, but then again if they were painted before they were bolted up they'd be a real pain or near impossible to try and line up the stripes accurately. It's no wonder they were done away with on most production examples.
Any thoughts on how these "extended" fender protions of hockeystick stripes may have been applied at the factory? Or if they were ever even applied at the factory?
The cars we're seeing in ads etc. may have been early production press/demo vehicles not built exactly as the factory would later gear up to do them. I can't say I've ever seen an original extended hockeystick in person, but I'd like to. Anyone got a bona fide example? Good resto topic here...
