Wow, I remember replacing those short blocks under warranty. I worked for a local dealer and was at the bottom of the totem pole. GM paid a little over 8 hours to put a short block in one of those and I worked flat rate. They stuck me every one of 'em
I almost starved to death. Many a week I took home an 85.00 pay check
Our labor rate was 10.00 per hour and I got 50%. That paid me a little over 40.00 to do that job.
