Re: 1970 Camaro L78 on Team Camaro
Here is an E-Mail I got from the owner..
<<<I have called 2 interested parties and both calls were close to an hour
each. Needless to say I will ask those who are interested to call me. See
bottom of letter for number.
Here is some more info and part #s on the Camaro.
I know that not all the parts and codes are not correct. Please understand
that this car was redone about 15 years ago and the previous owner didn’t
care about numbers but wanted a streetable car to drive. Some panels were
replaced and the car painted black. I was told that both the quarters as
well as left door skin were replaced. I think that also the rear valance
was. The floor is still original and the red oxide primer is visible. I
purchased it 2 years ago with the intention of driving it then and restoring
it later. I enjoy driving it and would love to restore it to its original
condition but unfortunately due to my employment and home life, I am not in
the position to do so. It’s difficult finding time to drive it let alone
restore it. I put less than 200 miles on it this year. I have found some
correct parts like the hubcaps, distributor, interior etc. I would hope to
see someone restore this car as it was when new. If I do not sell it my plan
is to park it for 2 years until my work load subsides, remove the original
engine, buy another big block and enjoy it as a driver which I will enjoy
more knowing that the original motor is safe on a stand.
Remember that this is a Canadian documented car. Some say that the GM Canada
docs are better that a build sheet or POP.
With the way 70-73 Z28s prices are going I believe that these L78 cars will
increase as well.
