Default Re: 1970 Daytona Yellow Z/28 paint

Your concerns to get the color right are well founded. Some colors are more troublesome than others and no one mfg has his "crossover formulas" all correct today. I went thru holy hell getting 67 Marina Blue dead on last year and had two orig paint cars plus hidden area paint samples to compare. I got it, but thru a custom mix modification to a PPG formula that was not right. On the other hand, just did a 67 Corvette Marlboro Maroon and PPG was amazingly right on as mixed, and a color that very often looks wrong and frustrated us in the past. As for Daytona Yellow, I may have saved you some legwork. I am doing my COPO Chevelle and have found Sikkens has this one nailed. Be careful with others as Daytona can easily take on a "greenish" direction we have all seen over the years on repaints. Daytona Yellow is a dynamite color when right on but looks like hell if off a little. Talk to me if you need more info or I could do a spray out panel and send it to you. I have lots of good area on my car to see original color and a 69 Corvette wiper door taken off a car long ago in perfect orig Daytona Yellow.
