It is not the alignment. it is poor quality Fiberglass molding production processes. These same issues actually delayed production until well into late May. There were some early cars but limited production actually got going in early June, and even then production was limited.
AO Smith was the supplier for the rear spoiler assembly.
As for the 500 number, I guess Ed has his sources. Vince told me that Not many were made because of the fit issues with the first spoilers. He also stated that due to this very issue the primary production roll out was mainly delayed by Chevrolet until the '71 model year where it became RPO D-80.
