Default Re: Holley decoding help, please, possible Z-16 Ho

Everyone looks up "3310" and sees 1965 396 Z16. The vast majority are not.

The 1965 List 3310 (and '65 425hp version List 3130) carb is a completely different animal - main body with smooth air horn, small inlet float bowls, everything. Attached is a comparison photo of a 1965 3310/3130 carb with the later, common version. Notice the lack of verticle ribs on the air horn (on either side of the vent tube) and the smaller and different appearing fuel line inlet bosses on the float bowls of the true Z16 carb on the left.

The 1965 3310 is rarer than hens teeth (if you're not a midwesterner, hens don't have teeth) since there were only 201 Z16s built. The service replacement 3310 has dates anywhere from 1966 through at least the mid 70's with the GM number on it. There are zillions of them and their value is only as a serviceable carb.

Oh yeah, there is one other difference: $$$$
