I disagree. Just having an M22 doesn't prove anything. You could get an M20 or an M21 with any of those cars.
It takes more to prove these cars then just having a tranny match the VIN.
His VIN is to early for any COPO or Yenko so you can rule out those.

Why do you disagree? If the only engines you could get the M22 with were the solid lifter engines than an original VIN matching M22 would indicate the car had a 302, an L78 396/375 engine or an L72 427. But since the VIN is dated too early for the L72 427 then it would indicate the car is a Z28 or L78 SS396. Now we all know the M22 could be a restamp but that's not even part of the discussion. M20 or M21 has nothing to do with trying to prove an original COPO, Z28 or L78. Yes, your Z28, L78 or COPO could have an M20 or M21 but the M22 should prove what the car could be.
