Default Re: Anybody thinking about buying a new ZO6 Corvette?

I think the car is heavy and throttle response is just terrible (we're talking about auto car).

'64 Mustangs probably received the same scorn from car guys back then. Think of a 260/2bbl/auto '64 and how anemic it was in the acceleration and cornering department. It really wasn't until Shelby went to work on them that the early Mustang got any respect from the hard-core car guys of the day. Shelby himself still calls the '64-'66 Mustang a "secretary's car."

Overall, I think Ford's done the best that they could with the new Mustang. I'll see one going down the street and look at it and think, "Yeah, Ford did it right." Even the clean-looking V6 car catches my eye. The new Shelby version will hopefully be a real tire-fryer.

The Corvette will always be in a class by itself, much the same way the new Ford GT is. Comparison with the Mustang is to be expected but the Corvette is basically alone in my book. If GM does reincarnate the F-body with the same success that Ford has had with the '05 Mustang then we'll really have something worth talking about.
