"My air cleaner wing nut is turned is 37 degrees clockwise from the centerline of the car. I think it's original, but I'm not positive. Does anyone know for sure what the correct alignment should be?"
I would venture a guess that the 37° deviation (plus or minus 3°) is correct. The question is; which side of the Mississippi River the car was built. Cars built West of the Big Muddy seem to have the wing nut Counterclockwise while the Eastern cars were Clockwise. Isn't that what your research indicates Rick?
