I only registered on this site because my experience may
help you, so bare with me. Last year I finally had the chance to buy a '68 vette I'd been storing for a friend for the last 6-8 years. A week after I bought the car she gave me a shopping bag full of paperwork, receipts etc. In that
paper work I found someone had done a Title Search on the
car and it traced the car back to NICKEY Chevrolet as the
selling dealer. I haven't seen this on other title searches
but maybe however/whoever NICKEY submitted the title transfer resulted in documenting the vehicles original selling dealer. This could get you on the right track.
