Re: BJ: Beyond the valley of the lunatics
Most of these cars were heavily tubbed and are still competitive to this day in their class. From the factory they had thin (easily broken) glass and the doors were half-thickness sheet metal, front end was fiberglass, front bumper was lightweight metal, inner fenders were pounded and rewelded to clear headers, no window mechanisms, just a seatbelt to hold them up, lightweight Doage A100 van seats on swiss cheese mounts and more stuff I'm probably forgetting. The Hemi Dart I had was fully tubbed and the trans tunnel was even enlarged. Too much for me to restore but the guy who bought it from me kept the original outside body shell intact and welded in an entire new floor and frame rails, from front footwells to trunk. An amazing amount of work, but it kept the original car intact.
As for Galen, he makes money rendering an opinion on Mopars. That is how he feeds his kids. Though his best response would be to say: "I cant comment unless I'm on retainer" and then it's up to the person to hire him or not.
