Don't know what you want to spend but I would recommend the new Canon PowerShot SD300 if you want a point and shoot. It's got a new whiz-bang processor that allows faster processing, better image quality, etc. Just as importantly, it's got a big LCD screen without sacrificing overall form factor. Better for checking whether or not you actually got the picture you wanted, especially if you're trying to get a part number shot, etc.

Samy's in LA are all ok, but you might be able to find one locally for the same price. Oh, and I'd recommend getting at least a 256mb flash memory card and if you can find one, one of the Lexar or Sandisk one's developed especially for cameras (I think there is a memory review on dpreview).
