Bob, don't you ever watch crossroads? They had ZZtop on with Brooks&Dunn. Very cool stuff. Also had Lynyrd Skynyrd& Montgomery, Gentry. Wynonna Judd, and Heart.
You need to widen you're horizen. The Allmen bro's helped bring Southern rock, to now main stream country. Skynyrd too. Without their influence, country would still be Ernest Tubb, and Tammy Wynot.
