Re: Scammin' the Scammer!
I was reading a Jan/04 edition of Mopar Collector and they pulled a fake e-bay ad just to show how easy it was to make people believe that some "rare" car could be sold (or not sold) for a large sum of money. They were selling a car called the King Fish and the wording on the ad was very decieving yet truthful. They managed to get 1.6 mill bid on this car with 4 people wanting to end the auction to come down and buy the car now among many e-mails looking for more info. The car really was for sale and was sold for alot less then the wanted price. It was an interesting article just how someone could sell a car on e-bay claiming to have a one of a kind car and just how many people would bid on it. They were trying to make a point that it dosent matter what happens on e-bay it dosent make the car sold and actually worth that much. The article went further to say that he has never been able to verify that any mopar has sold for anything more than $750k, as he had seen the actual bill of sale and the tax recept. Not saying that it hasent happened since but at that time thats all he could prove.
