Default Re: Dent in a dog dish cap?

My dad has had success fixing dents like this in his '32 Ford stainless headlight buckets. He starts by spraying a light film of silicone on the inside of the headlight bucket, or dog dish cap in your case, in an area that isn't dented, and then he gobs some body putty on the backside and allows it to fully harden. The putty will then pop right off the lightly oiled surface, and effectively, you've just made yourself a perfect dolly for removing dents elsewhere. I'd bet if you "cast" yourself up one of these small body putty dollies, from the same section of the perfect cap, you could use it to hammer out the offensive dent pretty smoothly. Just a thought...it's worked for us.
