What a weekend....What a race!!! What I would really like to mention about the race and the show in general was how close of a family this group is. I had never met Brian Henderson (bkhpah) until Thursday when he greeted our truck with the biggest smile at the entrance of the Thursday night gathering. After I made a few practice runs on Friday I had my hood open and Shonye had noticed that my water pump was going bad. I still made another practice run and after that one it was realized that I had rolled my belt and that the pump had gotten worse. At that point it was completely evident that I should not race anymore or risk my fan going through the radiator, hood, or causing some really extensive damage. Brian had walked up and tool a look and said that I definitely should NOT race anymore. All of the sudden he said if I got a water pump he could change it out quick. I was shocked that such an offer was made. All of the sudden I had a Belair Bob throw me the keys to his rental and Joey & Erik Barr volunteering to go with so I would not forget any of the things needed to have the pump changed. After getting the parts which BTW even Charley had sent out for a fuel pump that he had delivered: Brian Henderson, Joe Sweezy, and Joey Barr tore that car apart and changed that pump so quickly that my head spun. They worked lightning quick in the Sahara Desert equivalent heat sweating bullets, on there backs, getting dirty, etc. I did go on to win the shootout because of those guys efforts and for that I will be in debt to you fellas!
I know that at one point there was about 20 people around the car and there was tons of people offering anti freeze, tools, etc., and if I forgot to mention all of you I appreciate it! Thanks to the Clary's for putting the biggest, best, and friendliest Supercar show in the world! What cars! What a group of people!
Marlin was awesome and I was honored to race against him.
