Default Re: Another Ebay Scam

I didnt see that Z,but you can never tell who is for real.About 5 years ago before I knew about computers{Back in 1996 to be exact},I had a solid 69 Z come my way.It had been sitting and the engine was seized.I got it for $700.It had every all numbers maching part on it right down to the radiator hoses. It had ben sitting in a garage with no door on the front for over 20 years, and had 17,000 original miles on it.I pulled the engine apart and one cylinder had bad pitting, and would need a sleeve. The car had about 1 square foot of rust and no serious dents on the entire body and not a rip in the interior, but it was ugly green.I bought it to make it into a race car,but decided I could sell it for more money.I put it in the local want ads for $3500 and took $2900 for it.It isnt exactly a Baldwain Motion car,or a frame off resto, but given the current prices I bet it would be close to it when done.I never saw the car again, and had no interest in keeping it.I read that they made almost 20,000 of them and figured it wasnt really that rare like maybe a bigblock car would be.My nieghbor just picked up a 67 RS/SS 350 4 speed car;ast fall that was disassembled for restoration and never reassembled. It had some new sheetmetal but was still kinda rusty, but every important part was there and was date and numbers correct. He paid $400 for it and sold it for $3800.So not every car out there get sold for a zillion dollars.I am working on getting a guy to sell me the 1970 Z he just bought. He got the car for $500 with no title and no motor when he dragged it out of a back yard during the cleanup of a real estate auction. He applied for the title and now has $700 invested in it.It is super solid with newer quarters and faded paint, and has everything but the longblock. It has the 4 speed and shifter, the intake, carb and exahsut manifolds in the trunk, and the longblock is MIA.I offered him decent money for it,but he says he wants to cut it up and pro street it.It is his car,so there isnt much I can say about it.So not everybody holds these supercars in the same regard.
And of course Ebay if fulla scams too.I like those guys who try and sell the cars that appear on calenders and posters using the calander pics.I bet they are real legit
