I remember at a Australian Corvette nationals one guy had a very hot 63 Rdster. Did huge burnouts on the Go To Whoa. When talking to him later he proudly told me he had a Muncie Super T-10. When I corrected him and told him it was probably a Borg Warner Super T-10 he became abusive, as if I had seriously denigrated his car. He did not have a clue, shame about all the people standing around, who were absorbing his enlightened information.
There is a Corvette God however, and he was pissed. Next time Jr picked up his $75,000 (what the car and all its mods had cost him back in 1988.) Vette from the mechanics he tested out the clutch with a mighty burnout. Car mounted the curb, lept a guard rail, and dropped into a storm water drain. He survived, and quietly parted out his car, never to spoil the Corvette scene again.
If only all life was that fair.
