FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE York, PA - The awards for the Second Annual
York US30 Musclecar Madness event held at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on
July 11-12 were announced today.
Winners of the Cruise In First Place were Paul and Lynn Gawel of Harrisburg, PA in their
1970 Gran Sport Buick Convertible, Second Place went to Dale Hauze of York Haven, PA
and his '69 Camaro, while Third Place was won by James Hamberger of York in his '37
Ford Coupe.
Musclecar went to Super Car Registry, Yenko cars, of Latrobe, PA. Second Place was
Skip LeCates, 1969 Pontiac Trans Am from York while Third Place was taken by Joe Penn,
1966 Hertz Mustang from Mechanicsburg, PA.
In the Drag Racing category First Place honors went to Dave Hales of Lorton, Virginia
and his beautiful '37 Willys Coupe, Second Place was Sam Murray of Lakeville, Massachusetts
and his Brainbau Olds, while Third Place was garnered by Rick Rudolph of Lake Luzerne,
New York and the Scotto & Blevins '55 Chevy Nomad.
The People's Choice Award which was selected by the audience with voting in canisters
during the show and was won by Joe Sedell, Gardners, PA and his beautiful '64 Chevrolet
Impala 409.
In the Special Interest category First Place was won by Bob Mulfinger, Warminster, Maryland
and his '23 T Bucket, Second Place went to Richard Ridinger, Warminster, PA and his '61
Corvair Coupe, with Third Place going to Pete & Joanne McManus of Thornton, PA and their
immaculately restored '49 Watkins Glen Grand Prix winner "The Alligator".
Linda Vaughn of Monarch Beach, California "Miss Hurst Golden Shifter" was presented the
Industry Excellence Award for her many years of service to the motorsports industry. Dean
Klein of North Oaks, Minnesota garnered the Budweiser Longest Tow Award, Jack Redd of Camp Springs, Maryland was awarded the Excellence in Reporting Award for his many years of dedicated reporting to drag racing as editor of Drag Times. An Exemplary Achievement Award
was presented to Bruce Larson of Dauphin, PA for his countless contributions to drag racing, while
Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins of Malvern, PA and Ronnie Sox of Richmond, Virginia were presented
Pioneer of Our Perormance Heritage awards for their many contributions over the years to drag
racing. The final award was presented to Harold Shorb, Hanover, PA for being the First Entry to the Second Annual show with his Herbie "The Love Bug" Volkswagen entry.
The Third Annual York US 30 Musclecar Madness will be presented on July 09-10, 2004 at
the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds. Friday, July 09 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and
Saturday, July 10 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
