Sorry guys, I e-mailed Mark, the moderator/owner of the site for the full story. What I got was an urban legend story about moonshine runners so I have no clue. Very neat car none the less.

Norm, that is likely a very common customizing trick similar to what I have done. For less than $100, you can have vinyl decals produced that say anything you want. In this case, he was likely expressing his actual cubic inch and horse power. I have done the same thing on custom show cars that were altered to the point where I made up new emissions, coolant, air conditioning, tune up, fan belt and vacuum hose routing. Really fun to watch people at a show do a double take when they see a decall representing what was now under the hood and they think it was real based on a tune up spec decal.
