I have had the same problem when restoring remote mirrors for 68's.The adheisive is some pretty tough stuff.I have found nothing to remove it with any success.I have used solvents,thinners,heat,and even boiled it.Nothing short of a hammer will remove it.Bad news for a correctly dated mirror glass.I use Paragon to supply new date coded mirror glass after I replate them.I have done several,but they MUST come apart to be plated.I know they carry the Oval glass for 68 and up,not sure about 67 though.They should have it........
