Default Re: Cool Day 2 55 Chevy Pics

Guys I just love a nice nostalgic 55! A lot of you guys probably started out with a tri five like that. My father told me that when he started driving in the mid 60's a lot of the muscle cars that we love today were not as hot as hot back then. They were just every day cars. He said the real hot rods were the tri fives. They were cheap to pick up and you could do a ton of things to them. He told me that the 55 shown in the pictures cost him $200.00 for the initial car but cost another $2500.00 to build over a couple of years. Man, he could have bought a new car for that price!

The Sun Tach with the garter is cool. I do the same thing to my car now! If you look at the pic with the view of the interior in B&W from the driver side you can see a little Playboy bunny sticker on the vent window. Man those must have been the days. I bet my dad can still hear the Mowtown playing on the radio when he used to cruise the streets of Chicago when he looks at these pictures!

BTW Whitetop what kind of wheels are on the 55 in the first pic? I have a Keystone Wheels Catalog from 1967 and they look just like Keystone Kustomflite wheels. He told me that after these pics were taken he bought a brand new set of Keystone Astro mags. What did Astro's look like?
