Here is why we need to take out Saddam. If Saddam could make a nuke he would sell it to a terrorist to use it against one of our cities.

I read a report done by a think tank of what would happen to the US economically if a nuke went off in downtown NY on Wall Street. Chilling.

The majority of all large banks and financial institutions are based in NYC. Yes they keep backup records in other areas of the US but the heads of thse companies and the best of the best minds are based in NYC.

Our country would suffer an economic collapse that would make the depression look like Christmas. The economic uncertantity alone would cause most people to stop buying anything other than food and heat immediately. The economy would start rolling down a hill like a snowball.
The report said that the gov. would shut down the banks asap to stop a run on the banks. Pension plans would be frozen for at least 1 year if not dissolved due to insolvency. Would you continue funding your pension plan and how? Most countries would pull their investments out of our economy due to uncertaintity. If you could not pull money out of a bank(or did not have a job) could you buy car parts, pool, garden tractor, new TV, carpeting? There would be massive unemployment within 1 month. Your only concern would be getting food and heat so any business that does not deal in these commodoties would be hurting big time.
Many countries in the world are near bankruptcy. Don't think it could not happen to the US. We have record trade deficets and huge deficit compounding the problem.

The report said it would take 4-6 years for the country to recover. Most people would be starting from scratch as their pensions plans would be gone.
