Re: Rare 67 Nova SS L-79
There was recently a 67 Nova L-79 featured in the November 2002 issue of Nova Times. The car appears to be a gold color with a black top. It is a non-SS car. I'll quote what it said in the article. Maybe somebody can post the article. I don't have any means to.
The general consensus is all 1967 L-79's had chrome valve covers, and a chrome open element air cleaner. Also the L-79's without air conditioning did not have a fan guard or clutch fan like the 1966 L-79. Both documented Novas had Quadrajet carburetors with cast iron intakes verified by the info on the protect-o plate. Both these cars also had Saginaw 4 speed transmissions The assembly manual shows the standard fan blade with a fan blade spacer. The 1967 L-79 could have had a ten or twelve bolt rear end. The 1966 L-79 came only with the 12 bold rear end. It is quite obvious a lot of "detuning" was done on the 1967 L-79 compared to the 1966.
The article was written by one of the owners Bill Brackin of Texas. See pages 34, 35, 36 of the November 2002 issue of Nova Times.
