I used 12"X12" B&W vinyl tiles, then glued them down to form 24"X24" B&W pattern squares. That floor has been down for over a year, and no regrets [yet]. Every couple months, I use an electric floor scrubber machine to remove the old wax, then use an orbital buffer to apply fresh wax. I chose this over other floor surfaces because I wanted a checker-board pattern and it's easy to replace [single or several] tiles that become stained or haggered from use. The glued tiles have stayed down well, it's just the wax-off/wax-on 4-5 times a year that takes a half-day each time to do the 50'X110' floor area. So far...so good.
