No, I tend to think you need the tightest converter you can get, to help fight the 4-speeds off on the big end. Mine stalls just under 2500, like the factory. On the skinnies, that's about right. We've tried converters both ways, and the stock hi-po (6 lug) stall speed is about right. Now, if you're running stickies, you can loosen it up a bit. Try raising your shift point...that will help "lessen" the shock to the tires.
