Re: What is this Hood
Rat Pack
Other companies that have made this hood is Fiberglass Trends out in Ca. Also Harwood made this hood at one time back in '70's/early '80's. I have an old AI (Anderson Industries) catalog somewhere and I believe they made the hood also. A&A and some other reputable companies would make the original hoods and the lesser companies would buy one and make a mold from that. Still a common practice in the fiberglass business. Especially in the street rod body market.
I talked with a rep from A&A 7-8 years ago and he told me when they moved from Georgia to CA they trashed all the old hood molds including the Grump lump and channel ram scoops etc.
If your not sure what a piece by a chopper gun looks like go to a Lowes or Home Depot and look at the backside of the one piece shower stalls etc. Chopper gun stuff was nasty for fiberglass cuts-worse than barb wire.
A friend of mine back in the '70's bought a one piece L-88 hood for his BB nova show car. It was made by the chopper gun. He worked the outside to get the right fitment for the car and once that was done flipped it over on workstands and resined/bondoed/block sanded for a month to get a smooth as glass underside. When he went to put it back on the car the heat formed from the Bondo/resin warped the hood so it did not line up with the fenders. I can still hear him moaning/bi**hing about that to this day.
