Re: High School Hot Rods
Joe;
Front Street, street racing central for Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, was fun until the fire truck came and hosed down the street. They don't race there anymore, now it's Essington Ave. down by the airport, and Red Lion Road in the Northeast. My old P.O.S. couldn't keep up with most of them. I usually raced in a group of 4-6 cars wide on Roosevelt Boulevard, and legally raced at South Mountain Drags with my Uncle. I had to stop this stuff when the car started to twist apart, especially from hitting second gear to hard with the auto trans. It pulled the body/frame mount off, (makes a nice bang when they come back together),popped the 17x35 sunroof open, the weak roof caused the drivers door frame to slam into the windshield pillar, and the rust holes in the wheelwells allowed the tire smoke to fill the car so you could barely see the tailights of those damn Grand Nationals!! Fun times!
