PSMCDR 2025 Border Crossing
So PSMCDR 2025 was a total bust for Team Weaver Racing!!
Amy and I left the house with great anticipation of another year of friends, racing, potluck food, and more racing!!!
My truck, trailer, and Cutlass all travelled well, no issues.
We got to the border and I had everything prepared as always, ownership, proof of insurance, passports, all in hand.
The guard asked normal questions. Where are you going? What are you going to do there? I said Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race in Stanton Michigan.
He asked if I have anything to declare? I said no. Then he said I have a car to declare. He said as i was racing the car that is commercial use. I explained I own the truck, trailer, and Cutlass all are licenced, plated, insured, and street vehicles. He said I needed a TIB (temporary import bond) or a Carnet. I explained we are just going to a car event for the weekend, no commercial business. I think he said I could sell the car in the US.
He said it has been the law for many years but not enforced, and now enforced.
He sent us to secondary, we backed into a space obviously for semi trucks not pick up trucks, and then through a door named drivers (obviously semi drivers) then we waited and I talked to the secondary guard same story.
He said I should get a broker to get a TIB and that a Carnet is not available quickly, then he got me paperwork (I thought he was going to give me a form to fill in….) paperwork to go back to Canada.
We followed the instructions and crossed back into Canada, spent an hour on the phone and internet researching and finding out that neither option applies to us, neither is cost effective, neither is fast, and neither was possible.
We then drove home and unpacked.
Now on a personal note: #€£¥*+=<#%
Darn it all 😞
