I think the answer is twofold. The aluminum wheels were pretty expensive at $263-it was only $200 to get the 390hp 427. The Rally Wheels were a brand new design in 1967, looked pretty cool and exotic in their own right, and were already there for $0 more. Expensive upgrade and a much better base wheel results in just 720 out of 22,940 being optioned with bolt-ons. And now there’s money to check off the 435hp option

It seems the vast majority of ‘67 have the Rally wheels.
Were the one year aluminum bolt ons not ordered as much for a certain reason (price ?) as I think they are a very good looking exotic wheel especially on a coupe.
