I'd phrase that a little differently: Hurst
created them to advertise his products.
George Hurst was a master of marketing, his most famous creation being Miss Hurst (although he can't take all the credit for Linda Vaughn).
Bob Riggle was the driver of the Hurst Hemi under Glass and so I suspect he built one of his own, although he could have perhaps provided a bit more of a distinction when naming his car.
Or maybe that was the point.
You all may already know this - but - the Hurst car was not intended to be a "wheelstander". It was supposed to be a straight up match race car, with the engine positioned for best traction.
However, the first time they nailed the throttle and the front end came up, (and after a change of clothes) they were like "Holy Cow! I think we're onto something here!"
