Actually the 3 speed was the base transmission with a 307 engine. The 350 is one of only a few options added, as was the gauge package. Very few Monte's I've ever seen didn't have A/C added. This is the first Monte I've seen with a column manual trans, but there were still a number of Chevelles being built with 250 6 cylinders and 3 speeds, so the column existed to install.
Intriguing car, to be sure, but I think his starting price is about all it is worth and the bidding kind of reflects that.
