The last use of the Ford 427 - 1968 Cougar GT-E. Ford was well aware of the more stringent emissions requirements. And the solid lifter version required routine matenience under the hood. If this was ignored, emissions climbed. So they removed the issue. Went to a hydralic camshaft. And pulled the teeth out of their 427. And so went the ultra-high compression along with it.

Interesting to note that the original ads for the GT-E said the car came standard with FR-70 WSW radial tires. Unfortunately the tire manufacturer was having an issue and this never came to pass.
