$300k and no one made absolutely certain the throttle was clear and free ? I hear this from guys around here that build a car they can't handle and then when they crash it "the throttle stuck"....sure...OK...maybe.
Call me a cynic, but in my book there is only 1 reason for this to happen.
Driver error.

The entire crash is on video from multiple camera angles inside and outside the car. They were doing a video feature on the car. Driver and passenger were badly injured, only wearing the lap sections of five point harnesses. Passenger face planted the steel dash at 45 mph. Driver locked his arms on the steering wheel and they broke at the elbows and bent backwards. (all on film). Passenger was the producer of the video and he even interviewed the car owner/driver about the obsolete brakes. The driver even discussed having to ride the brakes to keep it slowed down due it idling at 2000 rpm. So the tiny brakes faded to zero and they rear ended an occupied minivan at 45 mph.
