Actually, some do have the A stamp. The picture below is a repro made by AAW.
The next picture is the original light off my '69, that I spent way too much time restoring. The bracket is flat, there is a hole behind the bulb, and uses a thin wire clip to hold the socket together. It has a small mercury switch to turn on when the hood is opened. The repop internal switch is mechanical and clicks when tilted.
