The thing I like about the '74 M plate is that the date is stamped in.

You may recall the regular '74 plate was a '73 plate with an adhesive tab added.

I found out about all this same year information when I tried to register this plate (below) to the GTO and it got rejected.

That is Dick Jesse's dealer plate from Royal Pontiac. This mocked up photo might be the only time it has been installed, as it was still in the paper wrapper when I got it from Dad.
