The last Ford Motor car to get the 427: 1968 Cougar GT-E. Due to the upcoming changes in emissions, the solid lifter cam was dropped in favor of a milder hydralic cam. This resulted in a 20 HP loss for a single 4 BBL: 390 vs 410. Midway through production, the 427 was dropped and the 428 CJ was added. The GT-E was supposed to be the first car that came standard with radial tires: FR70x14. Unfortunately this was not to be so instead it came with F70x14 WSW.
