Yes, there were a few of us GP guys that saw the original ad in Hemmings back when it surfaced, but we all knew that it wasn't real because Pontiac didn't offer the HO/manual trans combo with a/c. Well, this car slipped through somehow and was apparently ordered by a big-wig at Pontiac... it's the real deal and the only one we've documented. It does have the 3.23 rear which was standard with a/c cars so maybe that helped get the order through? The car is a highly optioned Model J, not even an SJ which makes it even more interesting. The car is in good hands of a collector that has two other 4-speed GP's that he's restoring. Can't wait to see this car done someday!!

I've heard more than once from original owners of these cars tell me that they originally wanted the HO, 4-speed and a/c, but the dealer told them that it wasn't available. Most opted for the a/c thus either settling for the HO auto or standard 428 4-speed like Bob chose with this black car.

See the attached GP order form, column 58.
