You've seen a million of them in your lifetime. Maybe rode in one as a kid. Bet you didn't know something very crucial about all school buses, unless you are a first responder.
There are 4 black horizontal ridges along the side. The top one designates where the top of the inside seats are while the middle one shows were the bottom of the seats are. If first responders have to cut into the bus they know where not to cut. They, like the bottom two add strength to the sides in the event of "T-Bone" accident.
