Was also discussed that some 74 Z28's had the stripes installed by the dealer so consider this scenario: dealer receives the car from the factory without stripes so side emblems are present. Dealer decides the car will be more marketable and easier to sell with Z28 stripes so he orders them and installs them. First owner of the car comes to the dealer, buys the car brand new and the car has both the emblems and the stripes and is none the wiser. Claims years later that's how the car was when he bought it and he bought it brand new. Years later the car changes hands and is restored and the restorer puts both items back on because that's how it was when he started. Maybe the car didn't leave the factory with both but both were on the car before the first owner took ownership so in my opinion is totally correct for this car. If it really bothers you that much that you feel the need to criticize this beautiful car for the most minute detail, why don't you track down the owner and buy the car and correct this MAJOR discrepancy!
