Charlie, I agree. I looked this up on the Bj site and said it's sold for close to 1/2 a million dollars. And I seen a later auction with a green ca for more then 1/2 that price off. Then the orange one went over a million! (Those price are the published pricing with buyers premium I gather).
But your last picture on the previous page, it clearly states "a GM factory assembled body shell was used to correct extensive modifications"! So yes it was disclosed as a rebody.
My thoughts are, why REBODY one of the most expensive 1969 Camaro's ever? I know my thoughts don't mean anything to anyone, but to me, I see this car as a TRIBUTE! It's a tribute that a guy owned who was lucky enough to have the original VIN to swap over? Sorry if that upsets people, but IF this is acceptable on a car of this value, then any SS car can be rebodied? Why restore a '69 RS Z28, just rebody with a clean shell, save the 1000's of hours on labour?
I have heard the Mopar stories where EVERYTHING has been swapped out or changed repaired except the VIN.
I see it like this:
I can buy a condemned old house of a famous person, say Elvis's house he was born in. I buy it, replace the roof, original structure, plumbing and maybe even an addition. It's STILL THE SAME HOUSE! But if I tear it down, build a new designed house, it's NOT THE SAME HOUSE! Yet the address is the same?
