New for 1971 was the 340 Magnum option; Dodge's effort to offer an insurable muscle car. Plymouth did the same thing with the Road Runner. It was a $46 option and replaced the standard 383/300 HP engine. One of the few engines in 1971 that was still high compression (10.3 to 1)
