I am not buying this one. Would like to see the calculation. 71% of the earth is covered by water.

Let's say only 50% were covered by water. If all that water would result in only one inch of precipitation, then the average depth of all the existing water would be 2 inches.

That means the average depth of water would be even LESS than 2 inches (because in reality, 71% is covered by water. We wouldn't have many boats getting anywhere.

Then again, I have not researched the actual volume of water on earth, so I sure could be wrong.
