When Jess Tyree called John Z Delorean in 1963 looking for a 1962 421 SD Catalina John told him he could go to the Ford Arizona Proving Grounds and pick one up there. Pontiac had loaned it to Ford (without the aluminum parts) so Ford could test the car against the 406 Galaxie. Once Tyree got the car back to his shop Delorean sent him the complete aluminum parts package including the rare aluminum doors.
