You'd think that paper money is paper money, regardless of the amount printed on it, but that's not the case. According to the Federal Reserve, it costs 5.5¢ to make a $1 or $2 bill, but approximately 11¢ to make fives, tens, 20s, and 50s. But $100 bills cost 14.2¢ each to manufacture.
