Many (myself included) shake their head when a discussion of the 1974 GTO arises. But you have to give Pontiac credit. It sold better (7,058) than the 1973 (4,806) and the 1972 (5,807) models.
Unlike the 1974 Trans Am, the shaker hood scoop was functional. This was due to drive-by noise requirements.
