The background history on Ralph Salyer ownership is very interesting. He had and raced a Bill Thomas Cheetah and cut the top off to create the first Cheetah roadster, known as the cro-sal special. Prior while qualifying at Daytona with the Cheetah, a newspaper reported that he attained record speeds of almost 200mph when the wind turbulence ripped the Gulwing doors off the Cheetah.......coining the phrase “blew the doors off”.
