Williams Field was right across from the GM Desert Proving Ground when I was there in the mid 1990's. They flew AT-6 trainers for the most part. We used to watch them circling and say "...look at those clowns. All they do is fly around all day".
We had a good relationship with the Air Force base and would occasionally exchange managers for the day. Naturally we laughed when it got back to us that the guys at the Air Force base said "...look at those clowns. All they do is drive around all day".
